"How can we change the past? We cannot, but God can..."
How can we change the past? We cannot, but God can! He turns our sorrow, guilt, regret and shame into peace, contentment, fulfillment and yes, Joy. How? By exchanging our personal truth about ourselves for His spiritual wisdom and truth of how He sees us through Jesus Christ. You cannot change yourself by what you think about yourself. You change by believing what God thinks about you.’
Romans 8:32 TPT "For God has proved his love by giving us his greatest treasure, the gift of his son."
Romans 8:38 TPT "Nothing can separate us from the Love of God.
As a new Christian I knew God had forgiven me but I could not forgive myself. Then I went to a healing retreat for women who had had abortions. It was life changing. I went there scared, never having told my story before because of shame. It was incredibly freeing, especially hearing other women’s stories. You think you are the only one. Over the weekend I felt safe, loved, not condemned, or judged. Reading the Nine Days in Heaven about the babies being nurtured and loved by holy angels and growing into holy men and women of God, filled me with such peace and joy. I went there with so much baggage from my past and left with release, freedom, and healing in the revelation of God’s truth and abounding love, mercy and forgiveness.
Jesus died for ALL my sins and I could not pick and choose which ones.
It is not in our power to forgive ourselves; only Jesus can do that. All we need do is believe, repent, and receive his gracious, merciful gift of forgiveness and salvation. We were bought with a price; the precious blood of Jesus. We are saved and washed clean. We have a hope and a new future, our past is just that. We experience love, joy, peace, hope, contentment, and fulfillment when we live our lives for Jesus.
I tell my story to encourage other women, you are not alone, there is help and you deserve your healing. Psalm 32 TPT Forgiven by King David.
If you are not a believer, please know God loves you dearly, he is gently calling you to come and receive your healing.
Jeremiah 29:11-14 CJB "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity."
